Fitzroy Island: the dream…

Nudey Beach, Fitzroy Island

YES, this island is what dreams are made of! What I love the most about this place is that you can truly appreciate the pure beauty of nature. From the moment you step out of the ferry, you feel this unique sand made up of different shells. I admit, it was hard to walk on them, but so worth it!

Here are some interesting facts about the island:

Fitzroy is offshore from Cairns, which is located in Northern Queensland. It has a “large” population of 44 people. Most of the island remains untouched. Every beach is different from each other even though the island is only 3.39 km². It’s known for its beautiful hiking trails, especially during sunrise or sunset.

I can attest to that. I went to every corner of the island and discovered that each beach had different sands and features. Also, the hiking trails early in the morning are mesmerizing. Nothing I put into words can do it justice. The serenity I felt when climbing the peak just before sunrise was one of the most mind-blowing experiences.

This island will forever remain in my heart. Actually, the idea of the Isola Grande arose from this island. I remember sitting at Nudey beach, admiring its beautiful colors and wondering if it was all real. It just felt like a dream.
